Roger Dominic Sacchi, Sr., of Union Beach, New Jersey, passed away on October 17, 2026. Born in Englewood, New Jersey, in 1944, Roger lived a life that was anything but ordinary.
Roger served in the Army as part of the advanced infantry, and his sense of adventure took him far beyond those years. He traveled through West Africa, working with animals on reservations, and in the 1980s he worked with tigers right here in New Jersey. His love of nature and animals stayed with him his whole life.
On November 8, 1986, Roger married the love of his life, Sharen. Together they built a home full of laughter, often at someone else's expense. Roger was a ball buster through and through, always using humor to mess with the people he loved. He had a hard exterior, but anyone who got to know him found a soft and deeply loving man underneath.
When he wasn't giving someone a hard time, Roger could be found fly fishing, practicing his marksmanship, or reloading ammo and tying his own flies. He had a real appreciation for jazz and classical music, and he was, by every account, the greatest dad and husband a family could ask for.
A man of deep Christian faith, Roger trusted in the Lord throughout his life, and his family takes comfort in knowing he now rests in God's loving care.
He will be missed more than words can say, though he'd probably crack a joke to lighten the mood. Rest easy, Roger.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Olga (Straub) Sacchi, his sisters, Janet Sacchi and Michelle Parmese, and his sister-in-law, Molly Sacchi.
Roger is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 39 years, Sharen (Lawrence) Sacchi, his loving sons, Roger Dominic Sacchi II and his fiancée, Marina Mikhail, and Salvatore Moschitta, his dear brothers Ernie Sacchi, and Ronnie Sacchi and his wife Catherine, and his brother-in-law, Jim Parmese, along with four cherished grandchildren.
