Rosanne Velardo Obituary

Rosanne V. Velardo, 82, of Hazlet, New Jersey passed away unexpectedly on October 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the memories of a life well lived.

Born on August 13, 1944, in Jersey City, she was the daughter of the late Basil and Christine (Maraziti) Cavalli. Rosanne was raised in Jersey City and remained deeply proud of her roots throughout her life. She carried that pride with her always and never lost her affection for her hometown or for being a true “Jersey Girl”.

Rosanne graduated with the Keyport High School Class of 1962. After high school, attended business school and was a secretary for the Port Authority of NY/NJ before meeting the love of her life, Arthur B. Velardo.

They were married on October 15, 1966, and shared many years of love and life building a beautiful family. Rosanne and her husband made their home first in Old Bridge before settling in Hazlet in 1970, where she remained for the rest of her life. She was a homebody at heart and found comfort in the familiar rhythms of home, family, and the place she had made her own.

Rosanne was a loving mother to her son, Arthur B. Velardo, her daughter, Christine Berni and her husband Alan. She was also a cherished grandmother to Nicole Fazio and her husband Anthony, Joseph Berni, and Alessandro Velardo. She was overjoyed to recently become a great-grandmother to Cecilia Fazio. Her grandchildren and great-granddaughter brought her immense happiness, and she loved and cherished each of them deeply.

She was known for her loving nature and for the warmth she extended to those around her. She was a devout Catholic who found solace in her Rosary and the Blessed Mother. Rosanne had a special fondness for anything with the word “New” in it, a good cup of tea, and a meaningful quote. She was a devoted fan of the New York Giants and followed them with great enthusiasm. These small but meaningful interests were part of what made her uniquely herself and brought smiles to those who knew her best.

Rosanne will be remembered for her loving spirit, her steadfast presence, and the deep affection she held for her family. Her memory will remain a treasured blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
